The School of Communic-ations at Ithaca College, where Serling taught creative writing sponsored a two-day conference that featured an international panel of researchers, special guests and speakers -- including Foundation Board members TONY ALBARELLA (left-below) and GORDON WEBB (right).tztonygw

Albarella's presentation -- including lots of video clips -- examined the impact of war on Rod Serling's life and work, while Webb used clips and still images to illustrate differences between the 150 filmed episodes of The Twilight Zone and the six shows produced on videotape during the second season.
johnsonIthaca's keynote speaker was GEORGE CLAYTON JOHNSON -- one of the few living writers who worked on The Twilight Zone.  Johnson scripted four episodes, and created the stories for four others.  He also wrote the first episode of the TV series Star Trek (1966) and is co-author of the sci-fi classic Logan's Run.
A bus trip to Binghamton on Saturday afternoon brought the I-C conference participants to Serling's hometown to see what was going on -- including Anne Serling's reading from her memoirs (see column two).

steve/solFoundation Board member STEVE SCHLICH produced a really creative montage of clips from The Twilight Zone for use on I-C's conference  bus trip to Binghamton.  He's intercut shots from the series along with Serling's famous intros and closing in a way that communicates something special on its own. This program is definitely worth watching... and you can for more information about his production.                                 Gordon C. Webb

On October 28th, the Paley Center for Media in New York honored the 50th anniversary of The Twilight Zone with  a unique, star-studded reading of the first and only TZ episode directed by a woman (Ida Lupino).  Fans who attended the event saw the episode  recreated by a star-studded cast, including: Lucie Arnaz, Laurence Luckinbill, Katharine Luckinbill, Robert Walden, and Fritz Weaver.  The reading was directed by Antony Marsellis, and ANNE SERLING-SUTTON (above, right) was a special guest.
Anne reads from her book Growing Up With The Man Behind The Twilight Zone on the RSMF website.

The episodes followed Serling's original scripts where possible and adapted to the live studio setting where necessary. A masterful job!
